Goetz's photographs and digital images have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Texas and California, including FotoFest '96, FotoFest '98, the Galveston Art Center, and Gallery 825, Los Angeles.Goetz has received fellowships and awards from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the San Marcos Art Center, and the Beaumont Art League. His work is in several private collections in Madrid, Spain, Houston, Texas, Traverse City, Michigan, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California.
Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Goetz moved to Singapore with his family in 1974. While there, he attended the United World College of Southeast Asia, and developed an interest in drawing and photography. In 1982, Goetz moved, alone, to San Francisco. Since that time he has traveled and photographed extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.
In 1988, Goetz earned an Associate in Arts and Sciences from Pierce College in Tacoma, Washington. The following year he moved to Houston, Texas. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art at the University of Houston in 1996, Goetz relocated to Southern California in 1997. He completed his Master of Fine Arts in photography at California State University, Long Beach in December 2000. He currently resides in Long Beach.
