Homage II

Homage II

The second installment in the Homage series, Homage II was created in memory of Pop artist Andy Warhol.

Fashioned after his paintings and silkscreens, this series of digitally enhanced photographs imitates Warhol's famous Campbell soup can images. The rainbow colors are employed to signify the pride of the gay and lesbian community, of which Warhol was a member.

Six popular Campbell soups are used in this work, each with its own individual characteristics. Light and shadow help to formulate a sequence suggesting life to death, parallelling Warhol's passing.

Warhol's style of utilizing everyday objects such as Campbell soup cans or Coca-Cola bottles helped change people's perception of the mundane. My work is to help people remember an artistic innovator whose work was anything but ordinary.
